History of International Yoga Day
The initiative to celebrate International Yoga Day was taken by India. For the first time in the year 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started celebrating International Yoga Day. In the meeting of the United Nations, Prime Minister Modi proposed to celebrate Yoga Day, after which on 11 December 2014, it was announced to celebrate International Yoga Day on 21 June every year. International Yoga Day is being celebrated every year since 2015.
