Maharashtra Political Crisis: In Maharashtra, when Shiv Sena formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi government with NCP and Congress, it was termed as a shaky alliance. All political experts believed that this alliance of these parties with different ideologies would not last long, although somehow the government lasted for about two and a half years. But after this the spark of rebellion smoldering in Shiv Sena took an explosive form and today the picture is in front of everyone. Now the government is almost certain to go, but the Thackeray family is now in danger of being out of Shiv Sena. This political incident of Maharashtra teaches many lessons of politics.
alliances with mismatched parties
When the assembly elections were held in Maharashtra in 2019, no party got an absolute majority. BJP emerged as the single largest party and everyone felt that once again Shiv Sena and BJP together will form the government. But this did not happen. Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray announced to form the government with NCP and Congress and himself became the Chief Minister. It was told that during this time some leaders of Shiv Sena had also opposed the formation of government with Congress, but then this protest was not allowed to come out.
That is, after the formation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Shiv Sena, the spark of rebellion had been ignited. It took about two and a half years for this spark to become a fire. Party stalwart Eknath Shinde took a large number of MLAs to his court and took them from Maharashtra to a hotel in Guwahati. After demonstrating his strength, Shinde gave a message to Uddhav Thackeray that as long as he is with Congress and NCP, nothing will happen and he will not return. He clearly said that the Hindutva ideology of Shiv Sena cannot run with NCP and Congress.
This is not the first time that Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has been accused of running away from the ideology of Hindutva. Even before this, all the BJP leaders have openly accused Uddhav of this. At the same time, recently, independent MLA Navneet Rana raised the Hanuman Chalisa controversy and worked to fuel it. Now the question is whether Uddhav Thackeray has put his party at stake for the chair? Or perhaps Uddhav never thought that it would be built on the existence of his own party by forming a government with mismatched parties.
History of rebellion in Shiv Sena
Today every Shiv Sainik is loyal to the party for the hard work that Balasaheb Thackeray did to make Shiv Sena a big and strong party in Maharashtra. But this anecdote of rebellion in Shiv Sena is not new, even before that there have been many attempts to break the party, although they could not succeed. If we look at history, in 1990, Chhagan Bhujbal announced to leave the party and claimed that he had the support of more than 18 MLAs. But then nothing was wrong with the party and Shiv Sena moved ahead with more strength. After this, one such attempt was made in 2005, when party leader Narayan Rane rebelled against Shiv Sena. Rane had tried to break the party by asking for the support of 40 MLAs, but the Shiv Sena still bounced back. During that time Balasaheb Thackeray saved the party from collapse. But the rebellion that has taken place this time is looking like an alarm bell for the existence of Shiv Sena.
Chirag Paswan lost everything
This lesson of politics to political parties not only teaches the current story of Shiv Sena… Even before this there have been instances when the leader of the party tried to deviate from his line and this effort proved fatal for that party. . What happened recently with Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Paswan was also similar.
After the death of Ram Vilas Paswan, his son Chirag Paswan took the command of his party in his hands. Leaving the big leader of Lok Janshakti Party and uncle Pashupati Paras, Chirag started taking decisions himself. The biggest decision was taken just before the Bihar elections, when Chirag announced that he would not contest with Nitish alliance but alone. There was a lot of opposition to the decision in the party, but Chirag stood by it. But the results showed that the entire party has suffered due to this decision of Chirag. After this, Uncle Pashupati Paras started a rebellion and took 5 out of 6 MPs of the party in his side and showed Chirag the way out of his party. Chirag not only lost his leaders but also lost the party formed by his father.
Apart from this, such an example was seen in 1995, when there was a rebellion in NTR’s Telugu Desam Party. After this rebellion, Chandrababu Naidu had captured the party by putting all the MLAs in his side. After this, after the death of Jayalalithaa in 2017, something similar was seen in her party AIADMK as well. Here the Panneerselvam faction started a rebellion against Sasikala and became dominant.
